Passed through the Washington Dulles International Airport recently and stopped by Vino Volo for a healthy bite before my flight. This is a small and quaint little spot that happens to be an airport ‘chain’. Their food is some of the only healthy food I come across when traveling so I always make a point to dash in to enjoy their small plate offerings when I have the time. This particular day I did, so I slowed down and ate good. I took my time and enjoyed the avocado and beet salad, which came with baby kale and arugula. the salad was dressed with an herb vinaigrette and toasted pepitas. I am a salad fanatic so I am usually overjoyed when places get it right. The salad was awesome as was the lentil and leeks soup I got to go along with it. I also enjoyed a flight of their holiday wine selections, which made me feel like I was in the right place at the right time, lol. It’s the little things. I sat at the bar and the bartender took very good care of me. I even got their truffled popcorn with Parmesan and truffle salt for my plane ride (best decision yet!).

My experience at Vino Volo that day was was delightful because of the super yummy food I’d just treated my self to, and because their staffs’ customer service was thoughtful and kind. They’re aware that most everybody is traveling so they are fast and attentive with respect for everyone’s time. I always eat at Vino Volo when ever I see one while I’m traveling, because they have high quality food, really fresh ingredients, and super tasty wines (if you’re in to that, like me!) at decent prices and they take extra care with their customers. This place is more than just a delicious wine bar, for me it is a healthy food haven in the middle of all things fried; which can be a LOT when you’re traveling… stop by and try them out if you haven’t already. I highly recommend this place!
