walking up Piedmont Ave in Oakland, looking for a great lunch. browsing menus in windows. the warmest greeting drew me in. Homestead, a place I’ve never eaten at, mostly known for their gourmet sandwiches. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and kind, even eager to be of service. the sense of belonging he provided me with made want to get something off of their menu, even though I had a small appetite and could not devour a whole sandwich. I settled on a lovely little gems salad with creamy buttermilk dressing and croutons along with a cold drink. I walked around for a bit and came back to grab my food. The same warm server offered me my packed up meal, and even threw in a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie as a sweet treat! It was so yummy. All of it. more than anything, I was happy to do business in a restaurant that was so customer forward and culturally conscious. Granted, I am a seeer, so I often see beyond regular customer interactions. This place is the real deal in terms of providing great food and great customer service to the people. Thank you young man for making my day. I felt seen and looked after, which is rare in most cases. Can not wait to go back as a returning patron.
