Basil Thai Restaurant & Bar is out here saving lives!!

Landed here last Friday with a friend as we walked and walked around looking for food. We apparently walked too much, because by the time we arrived at this place, it was looking like a God-send and we were happy to rest and re-up our energy levels. I’d like to start off with how kind and welcoming the host was, as we looked frazzled on the corner, his warm and gentle invite appeared out of no where like a beckoning oasis, lol. Not so dramatic, but that’s how we felt. He invited us to relax on their patio, and take our time with the menus. We were surprised and a bit flabbergasted that this young man was out on the block being ‘nice’ to us…… So out of place in the city. So what we were needing in that time. Dazed and confused – because as I mentioned before, we had walked a little too far, aimlessly. Our state of mind did not deter the gentleman from extending his warm service to us.

As soon as we ordered an appetizer, the weather took a turn for the worst. It was now cold and quickly becoming gloomy. Not skipping a beat, our server, invited us to take cover inside where it was warmer, and we had a whole section of the restaurant to our selves. Basil Thai DOES ask for proof of vaccination to enter and dine, and I was happy to furnish mine upon request. I appreciate that they have gone out of their way to ensure a safe environment for their patrons to dine. We ordered more food, I – the popcorn chicken, and my friend got the Pad Thai with shrimp. It was the tastiest and juicest pad thai I had seen in a while. the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delectable. My popcorn chicken was tasty, crispy and light…. just the pick me up I needed with out being too heavy. We also wound up sharing some taro fries. All throughout our meal, our server, and the host checked on us periodically to make sure that all of our needs were met. This dining experience felt really positive and inclusive. I will make sure to frequent this place when I am in the city because the staff showed real care, and concern for their patrons. Last Friday was really special and it is partly because we had a lovely meal at an amazing restaurant. I love thai food and I am going to say that this is one of the best dining experiences I have had in the Bay Area. Thank you Thai Basil… I’ll be back! (in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice).
